Powertrain details for the Escalade IQ are not yet available, but it is expected to ride on the General Motors Ultium EV platform. This platform can support various battery capacities, so the Escalade IQ may offer different power and range options.

The Escalade IQ will be built at Cadillac’s Factory Zero Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly Center. This site also assembles the GMC Hummer EV and is gearing up to build the Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra Denali electric pickups.

Here are some pros and cons of the Cadillac Escalade IQ:

Pros:

  • Long range: The Escalade IQ is expected to have a range of over 300 miles, comparable to other luxury electric SUVs like the Tesla Model X and the Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV.
  • Luxury interior: The Escalade IQ is expected to have a luxurious interior with features like a panoramic glass roof, a large touchscreen infotainment system, and heated and cooled seats.
  • Advanced technology: The Escalade IQ will be equipped with the latest advanced technology, including GM’s Super Cruise semi-autonomous driving system.

Cons:

  • High price: The Escalade IQ is expected to be priced at a premium, similar to other luxury electric SUVs.
  • Limited charging infrastructure: The charging infrastructure for electric vehicles is still limited in some areas.
  • Long charging times: Charging an electric vehicle can take several hours, which can be inconvenient for some drivers.

The Cadillac Escalade IQ is an excellent electric SUV with a long-range, luxurious interior, and advanced technology. However, the high price and limited charging infrastructure may deter some buyers.

Here are some other pros and cons that may be relevant to some buyers:

Pros:

  • Quiet operation: Electric vehicles are much quieter than gas-powered ones, which can be a major advantage for some drivers.
  • Reduced emissions: Electric vehicles produce zero emissions, which can help to improve air quality.
  • Government incentives: There are often government incentives available for electric vehicles, which can help to offset the high purchase price.

Cons:

  • Maintenance costs: Electric vehicles typically require less maintenance than gas-powered vehicles, but replacing the battery pack can be expensive.
  • Cold weather performance: Electric vehicles can lose range in cold weather, which can be a problem for some drivers.
  • Resale value: The resale value of electric vehicles is often lower than the resale value of gas-powered vehicles.

The Escalade IQ is not the only EV Cadillac to launch this year. The brand has three new electric models planned for 2023, but the identities of the other two are still a mystery. Spy shots have shown Cadillac developing a small crossover that would presumably fit below the Lyriq.
