The moped or underbone market is saturated in Asia, which means you can find a great selection of options. However, it’s hard to go wrong with the Yamaha XSR155.
Especially when you consider the features on offer and just how affordable the bike is. The latest model comes in a visual tweak, and this special edition certainly offers bang for your buck pricing.
The XSR155 is Yamaha’s premium model for the ASEAN region. It’s got an all-new 155cc single, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected engine that delivers 19.3 PS at 10,000 rpm and 14.7 Nm at 8,500 rpm.
The engine is mated to a six-speed transmission, and the whole package is built on a lightweight and rigid delta box chassis with a long-travel suspension setup.
The bike also features a pair of 282mm on front and 220 mm on rear disc brakes for good stopping power and USD front forks on the higher-spec models.
All that comes wrapped in a body design that oozes class, especially this particular colour scheme.
The custom
While the XSR155 is already a looker in its own right, Yamaha Thailand saw fit to give it an even more exotic track-inspired treatment by getting together with Zeus Customs.
What does one do when presented with an exceptional base motorcycle? Well, if you’re the crew at Zeus Custom, you customise it into a mesmerising display of aesthetic perfection. The Bangkok based custom bike workshop built their twist on Yamaha’s cross-country capable XSR155.
To do so, they swapped out the manufacturer’s stock handlebars in favour of clip-ons placed low and tight to the triple tree. In addition, the front and rear fenders were shortened.
And the headlamp unit was recessed into the fork cover; this, combined with a new seat design that tidied things up top, created a lower profile all around.
Lastly, traditional white was replaced by black accents on the engine, crankcase, and exhaust pipes, which gave this custom XSR155 an elegant matte grey aura that complemented its overall sporty demeanour brilliantly.
Limited to only 100 units. So you will have to hurry to get one for yourself.
