- Marc Marquez is on the verge of his seventh MotoGP title. Following his dominant victory at the San Marino Grand Prix, Marc Marquez has a record 182-point lead in the championship. He can now clinch the 2025 title at the next race in Japan if he outscores his brother and only remaining title rival, Alex Marquez, by just three points.
- A “Dream Team” at Ducati. The partnership of Marc Marquez and Francesco Bagnaia at the factory Ducati team is confirmed for the 2026 season. This pairing has been hailed as a “dream team” and is expected to continue Ducati’s dominance.
- The Jorge Martin saga is over (for now). After a period of uncertainty and rumors of a move to Honda, Jorge Martin has re-committed to Aprilia Racing for 2026. This ends the speculation and locks in a strong factory lineup for Aprilia alongside Marco Bezzecchi.
- Rider Market is Nearly Settled. Most of the grid for 2026 is now confirmed. Key moves include:
- Toprak Razgatlioglu is making the much-anticipated jump from WorldSBK to MotoGP with the Prima Pramac Yamaha team for 2026 and 2027.
- Jack Miller will remain with Pramac Yamaha as Toprak’s teammate, leaving Miguel Oliveira without a full-time ride for 2026. Oliveira has stated that racing is his priority and has opened the door to a potential WorldSBK switch.
- Honda has retained its factory riders, Luca Marini and Joan Mir, for 2026. They have also signed Moto2 star Diogo Moreira to the LCR team alongside Johann Zarco, with Moreira likely replacing Somkiat Chantra.
- VR46 will have an unchanged lineup for 2026, with Franco Morbidelli and Fabio di Giannantonio both confirmed.
- KTM’s factory and Tech3 lineups are also set, with Pedro Acosta, Brad Binder, Maverick Vinales, and Enea Bastianini all under contract through 2026.

- Jonathan Rea’s Retirement. In a major shock to the paddock, six-time WorldSBK champion Jonathan Rea has announced his retirement from racing at the end of the 2025 season. Rea, who had been linked to other teams, will not be renewing his contract with Yamaha, marking a significant shift in the series.
- Alvaro Bautista to the satellite team. Alvaro Bautista, a two-time series champion, will be replaced at the factory Aruba.it Ducati team by Iker Lecuona for 2026. Bautista will move to the satellite Barni Ducati team, a move that surprised many.
- Toprak Razgatlioglu’s departure. Toprak’s move to MotoGP has opened up a factory seat at the BMW Motorrad team. WorldSBK veteran Danilo Petrucci has been confirmed as his replacement for 2026.
- US riders making moves.
- Bobby Fong, a top MotoAmerica rider, will make a wild-card appearance in the final two rounds of the 2025 WorldSBK season with Attack Performance Progressive Yamaha Racing. This is a significant opportunity for him to showcase his talent on the world stage.
- Garrett Gerloff has extended his contract with the Kawasaki WorldSBK Team for 2026, showing a vote of confidence from the team despite a tough season.

- Nicolo Bulega has a new contract with the factory Ducati team that reportedly includes MotoGP testing responsibilities.
