KTM 390 Adventure X Price Hike: The ₹17,000 “Taxing” Reality!

Hold onto your helmets, orange bleeds! KTM India just dialed up the heat, and your wallet might feel the burn. The KTM 390 Adventure X has officially received a price bump, making it a bit more “premium” than some fans might have hoped.

The New Numbers: What’s the Damage?

If you were planning to swing a leg over the Adventure X this week, here is how the ex-showroom (Delhi) math adds up:

  • New Price: ₹3.43 Lakh
  • Old Price: ₹3.26 Lakh
  • The Jump: ₹17,000 Increase

For those keeping score at home, this hike puts the KTM 390 Adventure X well above its arch-nemesis, the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450, which starts at a much leaner ₹3.06 Lakh.

The “GST 2.0” Twist: Why Now?

Why is KTM bumping prices when the competition is getting cheaper? It all comes down to the Big 3-5-0.

Under the new GST 2.0 norms, the tax man has created a massive divide:

  • Engine > 350cc: Taxed at a heavy 40% * Engine < 350cc: Taxed at a friendly 18%

KTM’s current liquid-cooled beast sits at 398.12cc, squarely in that 40% “luxury” tax bracket. By raising the price of the current 390, KTM is effectively clearing the stage for a brand-new 350cc lineup.

The Strategy: Just like Triumph recently swapped their 400cc engines for 349cc units (shoutout to the new Tracker 400!), KTM is preparing to pivot.

What’s Coming Next?

Expect a “downsized” revolution. KTM recently hiked the 390 Duke by ₹40,000, signaling a clear strategy to differentiate the “high-performance 400s” from the “tax-friendly 350s.”

The Trade-off:

  • The Good News: Upcoming 350cc KTMs will be significantly more affordable due to the 22% tax saving.
  • The Bad News: Performance will likely take a slight hit. That signature KTM “orange-to-the-wall” power might feel a little more… polite.
