Plant director Petra Peterhänsel remarks, “Leipzig continues to lead the way. From pioneering the production of the BMW i3 to developing e-component production and preparing for the launch of the Mini Countryman, we are shaping the future.”

Notably, sustainability is a core focus of the new battery facility. Designed with a rooftop solar array capable of generating over 3,000 kilowatts (kW) under ideal conditions, and featuring the addition of “more than 5,700 new shrubs and trees,” BMW is committed to minimizing its carbon footprint.
