General Motors (GM) actively targets the rapidly evolving Chinese electric vehicle (EV) market with its Buick brand. Buick introduced its second EV based on GM’s Ultium platform, the E4 electric SUV. However, in the United States, Buick offers internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles.
Chinese Market
The Buick E4 electric SUV for the Chinese market adopts Buick’s latest design language, known as “Pure Design,” showcased in the Electra-X concept. The E4 features a sleek front end and a longer, fastback-shaped back end with an extended wheelbase. Its aerodynamic rear spoiler, suspended roof, slim LED lights, and hidden door handles contribute to its modern design.
Buick also offers a sporty GS version of the E4 electric SUV, featuring distinctive design elements such as a black crystal rhombic grille, GS tungsten photo-plated trim, 20-inch flower wing drag wheels, and an exclusive night bronze interior.
Interior
The interior of the Buick E4 electric SUV includes a sizeable panoramic dome that allows light transmission over a 1.2 sq m surface and filters out 99.99% of ultraviolet rays. It also features a large trunk and Buick’s mute technology for a quieter ride. The vehicle is equipped with GM’s Super Cruise driver-assist technology.
The E4 electric SUV boasts a 30-inch curved 6K infotainment screen with a high pixel density 200PPI. It utilizes a next-generation auto cockpit platform powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip.
Two versions
The Buick Electra E4 electric SUV is available in two versions: dual-motor and single-motor. The single-motor version has a maximum output of 150 kW and is powered by a 65 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery, offering a CLTC cruising range of 530 km (329 mi). The longer-range edition utilizes an 80 kWh battery pack, providing a CLTC cruising range of 620 km (385 mi).
