CFMoto 450 NK

In June 2023, CFMoto, a renowned Chinese motorcycle brand, made a groundbreaking entry into foreign markets, with the Philippines becoming the first country outside China to unveil its brand-new naked sport bike. This significant move comes after CFMoto launched the 450 NK in its home country, Zhejiang province, and now it has found its way to the Philippine Archipelago.

Motorcycle Brand

The 450 NK is set to replace the well-received 400 NK in the South-East Asian nation, marking a remarkable upgrade in style, performance, and generational evolution over the brand’s previously popular model. CFMoto Philippines, under the distribution of MotoStrada, proudly presented this launch event as a “Global Launch” for the brand.

Philippines

Previously, CFMoto’s presence in the Philippines included models like the 400 NK and the larger 650 NK. However, the introduction of the 800 NK signalled a leap forward for the NK lineup’s evolution.

Naked Sportbike

This new naked sportbike, the 450 NK, draws inspiration from the 450 SR (also known as 450 SS globally), inheriting its engine, much of its geometry, and the frame itself. With its sights firmly set on challenging Japanese competitors like the Kawasaki Z400, the Honda CB500F, and even Austrian contenders like the KTM 390 Duke, CFMoto appears to have a strong contender in its hands.

Design

The bike’s design bears a resemblance to the 800 NK, boasting a new headlight, aggressive fairings, a bold colour scheme, and a tail concept akin to the 300 and 450 SS models. Despite being smaller compared to the 800 NK, the design elements are thoughtfully proportioned to match the motorcycle’s overall form.

Engine

Under the hood, the 450 NK follows in the footsteps of its larger sibling, the 800 NK, featuring a parallel-twin engine with a similar firing order. Notably, the 450 NK shares its engine configuration with the 450 SR/SS, which incorporates a 270-degree crankshaft.

The engine delivers an impressive 46.9 horsepower and 39 Newton meters of torque, adhering to the European A2 license restrictions. The bore and stroke are listed at 77 by 55.2 millimetres, resulting in a precise engine displacement of 449ccs. This powerplant is paired with a six-speed transmission equipped with a slipper clutch.

Dimensions

In terms of dimensions, the bike measures 2,000 millimetres in length, 810 millimetres in width, and 1,130 millimetres in height. It sits on a compact wheelbase of just 1,370 millimetres (53.9 inches). The seat height is rider-friendly at 31.2 inches (795 millimetres), and the curb weight is listed at 165 kilograms (363.7 pounds).

Traction

Traction is ensured by a pair of CST sport tires, with a 110/70/R17-sized tire at the front and a 150/60/R17-sized tire at the rear. The suspension setup includes an upside-down telescopic fork by KYB at the front and a central mono-shock at the rear.

Colour Scheme

Braking performance is secured by a J.Juan four-piston caliper gripping a 320-millimetre single disc at the front, and a 220-mm single disc with a single-piston caliper at the rear. Notably, CFMoto Philippines has integrated anti-lock brakes and traction control as standard safety features.

Potential buyers in the Philippines can choose from three striking colour variations: Zephyr Blue, Nebula Black, and Nebula White. The price tag for this impressive motorcycle is set at 262,800 PHP, approximately $4,650 USD.

Here are some of the pros and cons of the CFMoto 450 NK:

  • Powerful engine
  • 6-speed transmission with slipper clutch
  • The short wheelbase and low seat height
