In September at Misano, Andrea Dovizioso had to say goodbye to the MotoGP World Championship. Andrea had bagged 15 victories and 62 podiums in his carrier. The Italian suffered a broken right wrist on December 9th.

The incident took place on the Guido Catini trackDovizioso is operated on, and he is doing well.

Accident

Here is what Dovizioso said on his Facebook page.

There’s this new trend that crossers follow: showing their fractures And me, being a little crosser, I feel I couldn’t be “in direction “, and I decided to play the wrist fracture card (broken for good, of course).

It takes a couple of hours of fear, but it’s part of the game. The critical thing is that I’m okay and didn’t have any permanent damage. Yesterday I was lucky enough to be close to, and to meet, some people whom now it’s time to thank.

The first, heard, thank you goes to UOC Mayor, Prof. Lamponi Federico, and all Hospital Murri di Fermo staff. You were timely, kind and open in consulting and coordinating in the final decision with who, my bones, knows them well.

Thank you

Thank you very much also to the riders who were on track and to the staff of the Catini Crossodrome in Ponzano di Fermo, who rescued and helped me after the fall.

And then a special thank you to two people who are always by my side.

One is you, Fabrizio Borra, that, now used to managing my operations, you managed, even from “remote”, to make me a guardian angel. Next few weeks, I will attend Physiology Center a lot.

And then there’s you, Yuri. A friend and unwavering presence that, once again, was an invaluable support.

Thank you so much to all.

Now I’m taking a little break vi. See you on track in a month to get back to the 2023 goals.
