However, even though it is relatively easy to move on and forget about the missing middleweight sportbike in Yamaha’s lineup, that doesn’t appear to be the case.

But, have no fear because Yamaha has not forgotten about us speed junkies. That’s right. The company has announced the release of a new track-only race-ready version of its current range-topping YZF-R6 for the year 2022.

It makes sense Yamaha would offer a race-only version of its best-selling 600cc sportbike.That was launched in 1999 and is currently in its ninth generation. As earlier generations were from.

Longest version stayed was from 2010-2016 wherein Yamaha subsidized the power and torque from 94.9 kW (127.3 bhp) and 58.7 N⋅m (43.3 lb⋅ft) for earlier 2008-2009 iteration to 91.0 kW (122.0 bhp) and 57.5 N⋅m (42.4 lb⋅ft) for 2010-2016 iteration.

More surprising, however, is the release of a GYTR edition of the R6. A name that has been firmly associated with the legendary R1. 

Featuring a styling kit from Yamaha’s Urban Moto department, this version appears to be aimed at urban riders, including upgraded suspension components from the R6 Race.

The new 2022 R6 RACE 

The bike features an aggressive design with an unmistakable M-shaped front air intake. 

Inspired by the M1, the official MotoGP® bike, this shell offers maximum aerodynamic efficiency to reduce lap times while the chassis compact Deltabox.
