However, those in Japan are still celebrating the FJR’s legacy and its 20th year in existence, even if it’s just a modest affair.

Like the Europe-only Ultimate edition, the upcoming FJR1300 20th Anniversary has come dressed for the occasion with a unique paint scheme. That covers most of its bodywork apart from the wheels, again in black and gold.

The 25-litre fuel tank receives black paint, as does the radiator shroud and underneath the tail section.

The FJR1300, which debuted in Europe in 2001. Has created a “sports tourer” category with its silky and torque engine characteristics. Long-distance high-speed cruising performance, high comfort, and agile manoeuvrability.

The domestic “FJR1300AS / A” will be discontinued this model.

The 20th Anniversary Edition has a black metallic X body colour. A gold 20th-anniversary emblem on the top of the tank, a gold “FJR” logo, gold front and rear wheels.

A special seat with unique stitching and embossing, a fuel lid and a lever. The black component colour comes adopted as a footrest.

The “FJR1300AS” is a high-end model based on the standard model “FJR1300A” that uses YCC-S (Yamaha electronically controlled shift).Electric adjustment suspension, cornering lamp (LED), that can change without clutch operation.

IN Japan, the FJR1300 AS will be available on February 10, 2022. The cost will be ¥1,980,000 ($17,355) for the special 20th Anniversary Model. The A will cost ¥1,650,000 (about $14,462).

A special edition FJR1300 is on the way in Japan. But whether this means the iconic tourer will soon disappear from North American showrooms remains to be seen.

However, the dilemma is.

While you can still pick up an FJR1300A in North America. We can see the 2022 model displayed on their website and its discontinuation elsewhere, mainly in Europe.

And the addition of new FJR1300s to Yamaha’s press releases in countries such as Japan. Where they manufacture the bike, suggest something very different may be coming our way.

So it’s still not clear what Yamaha has in their mind.
