KTM is introducing an update to its 200 Duke motorcycle in India. The new version will now feature an LED headlight, previously available only on the larger 250 and 390 Duke models. The LED-equipped 200 Duke will be priced at Rs 1.97 lakh (ex-showroom), making it Rs 4,000 more expensive than the halogen headlight version that will continue to be available for purchase.

LED

While the LED headlight will enhance brightness and spread compared to the current halogen unit on the 200 Duke, the motorcycle will not receive other advanced features in European markets, such as a TFT display. The Indian market is known for its price-consciousness, and the 200 Duke is already considered relatively expensive for a 200cc motorcycle, priced at around Rs 2 lakh (ex-showroom).

Therefore, KTM has decided to retain the LCD currently used on the 200 Duke, similar to the 250 Duke. Only the 390 Duke in India features a TFT display.

Duke

For customers who do not prioritize the brighter headlight, the existing 200 Duke with a halogen headlight will remain available for purchase. This version’s price will remain unchanged at Rs 1.93 lakh (ex-showroom), making it Rs 4,000 more affordable than the LED variant.

Here are some additional details about the pros and cons of the KTM Duke:

Powerful and responsive engine: The KTM Duke is powered by a 199.5 cc single-cylinder engine that produces 24.67 bhp and 19.3 Nm of torque. This responsive engine provides plenty of power for city riding and highway cruising.

Excellent handling: The KTM Duke is known for its superb handling. The bike is agile and can be easily flicked from side to side. It also has a very stable chassis, which makes it confidence-inspiring to ride at high speeds.

Sharp styling: The KTM Duke is one of the most stylish motorcycles on the market. The bike has a modern, aggressive look that will turn heads wherever you go.

Competitive

Competitive price: The KTM Duke is priced very competitively, especially when you consider the level of performance and features that it offers.

Wide range of accessories available: KTM offers a wide range of accessories for the Duke, including performance parts, luggage, and styling upgrades. This makes it easy to customize the bike to your own taste.

Harsh ride: The KTM Duke has a challenging ride. The suspension is firm, and the bike can be uncomfortable over rough roads.

Cheap-feeling plastics: The KTM Duke plastics are lower quality than some of its competitors. This can be seen in the fit and finish of the plastics, which could be better.

High insurance premiums: The KTM Duke is a high-performance motorcycle, meaning insurance premiums can be increased. This is something to remember if you are considering buying a Duke.

Steep maintenance costs: The KTM Duke is a high-maintenance motorcycle. This is because it uses premium components and has a complex engine. Maintenance costs can be high, so this is something to keep in mind if you consider buying a Duke.

Conclusion

The KTM Duke is an excellent choice for riders looking for a powerful, stylish, and affordable motorcycle. However, it is essential to be aware of the harsh ride, high maintenance costs, and high insurance premiums before purchasing.
