MV Agusta Reparto Corse has completed testing on 22 and 23 January at the Jerez de la Frontera circuit in Spain.
Jerez Weather Conditions
Unfortunately, the adverse weather conditions, with rain and relatively low temperatures. Made things difficult for the riders and technicians of Andrea Quadranti’s team.
Despite this, they were nevertheless able to complete a large part of the scheduled work, in preparation for the first round of the Supersport world championship.Which will take place over the weekend of 28 February-1 March at the Phillip Island track in Australia.
Although the three riders, Raffaele De Rosa, Federico Fuligni (returning following injuries sustained in a crash he suffered during last year’s Magny Cours round). And Randy Krummenacher were busy testing different components and set-ups.
The MV Agusta Reparto Corse riders were among the fastest of the passengers in their category over both days.
On Wednesday, it was Federico Fuligni who set the quickest time in the wet. While the best overall time set by the Supersport field belonged to Krummenacher, a 1’44″535 achieved on day two.
Day one was affected by almost incessant rain before the sun made a brief appearance on Thursday morning. The track practically completely dries by the afternoon.
And it has allowed all riders to improve on their lap times and the 2019 world champion to set his best lap.
Quotes
Randy Krummenacher: “The weather didn’t help us over the two day. And we couldn’t cover the kind of mileage we’d hoped to. But today we were able to make the most of the time we had once the track had dried.
We’ve improved a great deal compared to the test we carried out here in November. And yesterday I had more fun in the wet than I’ve ever had with a Supersport!
I am ready and delighted to race in Australia with this bike, as I know we can do well. I am getting on increasingly well with the team and am sure that together we can achieve great results”.
Federico Fuligni: “Two busy days but I’m pleased because I’m almost back to full fitness. We’ve done an excellent job, and we’ve tested almost everything we wanted to test.
We were very competitive in the wet . And the few laps we completed in the dry have confirmed we’re on the right track with the work we’re doing. I can’t wait to race in Australia!”.
Raffaele De Rosa: “The weather conditioned this two-day test .And I only got to ride on a dry track today. Though it was still damp through certain corners.
Over those few laps, my sensations were positive. But we’ll get a better idea in the pre-season tests that we’ll carry out in Australia.
We’ve tested many new components and various setting. And now we have to keep it up and identify the base on which to work for the races.
The team has worked very well, and we are all motivated to give it our all”.
