Hero MotoCorp launched the XPulse 200 4V in India, a new variant of its entry-level motorcycle.
Unlike its predecessor, which used a two-valve setup, the latest iteration gets a four-valve configuration along with an alloy cylinder head.
Hero also claims to have enhanced the power delivery of the motorbike with technical upgrades on the engine.
By launching its new XPulse 200 4V in the Indian market, Hero MotoCorp has become the first domestic manufacturer to offer a four-valve motorcycle.
Although it is just a four-valve version of the existing model, Hero’s XPulse 200 4V will compete with efficient Japanese bikes that have been ruling the Indian market for a long time.
The company also claims that the new bike is performance-oriented and indeed targets young urban male riders. Hero expects this to attract an increased number of buyers in India.
Motor
In terms of performance, the BS6-compliant, 200cc, four-valve, the oil-cooled engine makes 18.8bhp of power at 8,500rpm and 17.35Nm of peak torque at 6,500rpm.
At the same time, the two-valve variant makes 17.8bhp of power at 8,500rpm and 16.45Nm of peak torque at 6,500rpm.
Though it makes much sense to equip a two-valve engine with a fourth valve for better efficiency, there was another reason why Hero MotoCorp went ahead with its development. It helps to deliver smooth torque.
Aesthetics
The new XPulse 200 4V arrives with three new paint schemes, Red Raid, Trail Blue and Blitz Blue and updated graphics.
The design remains identical with a 21-inch front/18-inch rear wire-spoke wheels, nifty taillight, circular headlight, wind-deflector and pulled up the exhaust.
Suspension
Further, there are no changes in the suspension and brakes. The brake involves 276mm front and 220mm rear disc petal-type brakes with single-channel ABS.
It has 37mm telescopic front forks and a mono-shock on the opposite end. The entire package weighs 158 kgs.
Hero also provides the Rally Kit for this bike. And this kit has a new side-stand, long-travel suspension, knobby tyres and flat saddle.
Price
The four-valve Hero XPulse 200 4V retails at Rs 1,28,150, and the two-valve variant has a price tag of Rs 1,23,150.
With both these price tags, we think Hero has offered a phenomenal deal.
