Kinetic Motoroyale launched Norton Commando 961 in India for INR 23 lakh (ex-showroom Pune).This comes after the partnership of Kinetic with Norton that was established few months back to collaborate in Indian niche motorcycle market. We got to know that initially Norton Commando 961 will com via CBU route which means import duties will be higher as compared to CKD route.
This means Norton bikes will be assembled besides Agusta in Maharashra. Manufacturing in India will help them tap potential south east markets with easy pricing.
The premium cafe racer gets clip on handlebars, rear cowl, front fly-screen and iconic round headlight as standard equipment. Selected parts are crafted from carbon . Specs of engine is 961cc, fuel injected unit that churns out 80 HP at 6500 rpm and 90 Nm at 5200 rpm.
The Norton Commando 961 Cafe Racer doesn’t have any direct competitors in the Indian market and its closest competitor, in intent, is the Triumph Thruxton R that is priced at Rs 11.92 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Norton sets itself a ambitious target of selling 2,000 units in the Indian market by 2021-22.
