The 2023 Sturgis Motorcycle Rally is featuring some exciting events and reveals. The 83rd-anniversary celebration of the rally kicked off on August 4, 2023, and is set to continue until August 13, 2023, in and around Sturgis, South Dakota.
One of the highlights of the annual Sturgis festival is the Motorcycles as an Art exhibit at the Buffalo Chip, where Royal Enfield and Roland Sands Design introduced the first-ever Super Meteor 650 custom build.
Key features of the Royal Enfield x RSD chopper:
- The black and gold paint scheme
- Custom engine covers, foot controls, bar rises, and more
- Öhlins front fork and rear shock setup
- No front brake
- Matte finish on all the paintwork
- Matte gold pinstriping and flames
- Glossy clearcoat finish on the top of the tank
Roland Sands
The unveiling of the Royal Enfield x RSD chopper at the event was quite dramatic. The bike was contained within a wooden crate marked with the Royal Enfield logo. The crate’s front wall was knocked off by a burnout performed by Roland Sands, revealing the stunning custom build inside. The chopper features a predominantly black and gold design, with handcrafted elements from the RSD workshop. Notable customizations include engine covers, foot controls, bar risers, and more.
Super Meteor 650
The Super Meteor 650 boasts an Öhlins front fork and rear shock setup, a mostly matte finish on the paintwork, and a glossy black finish on the frame and the top of the tank surrounding the gas cap. Matte black covers various parts such as the engine cases, side covers, tailpieces, and bar risers. Matte gold pinstriping and flames add to the unique design, and a small gold pinstripe design is featured under a glossy clearcoat finish on the top of the tank.
Official Release
While the bike is set to be released in the US, as of August 7, 2023, an official release date has not been confirmed. However, it is already available in other markets worldwide, including India and the UK.
For those attending Sturgis 2023, the Super Meteor 650 custom build can be seen up close at the Motorcycles as an Art exhibition at the Buffalo Chip.
The exhibit is open from Saturday, August 5, through Thursday, August 10, 2023, with daily hours from 3 p.m. to midnight. It’s a great opportunity to appreciate this unique motorcycle art and other motorcycle-related displays.
