A while ago in July 2021 Harley-Davidson lifted the curtain on its new 1250cc, liquid-cooled V-twin Sportser S. All we have known about the much-anticipated model is this: it will pack a massive amount of hit in a small package.
Our fellow enthusiasts have indicated that the Sportster would be fast enough to embarrass bobcats through judicious use of words.
And although we haven’t seen a bobcat do anything, we are inclined to agree with their estimation of its potency.
And now, the Milwaukee manufacturer has finally decided to inject some fresh blood into its entry-level Sportster.
The Sportster 1250 will become Harley’s eighth family member and the most affordable model in the lineup.
The liquid-cooled, DOHC, eight-valve, 1,252cc V-twin calibrates to 121 horsepower and 94 lb-ft of torque.
Indeed, the range has widened over time and morphed into a diverse family of brilliant motorcycles. But the original ethos – of affordable accessibility – remains at its core.
And it’s that philosophy that serves as inspiration for the new Harley-Davidson 1250 engine.Which will form the detailed core of the Milwaukee marque’s next generation of Sportster models.
But with the introduction of the Milwaukee-Eight engine (and chassis) just over 18 months ago. There was a risk that the Sportster would lose its place as the entry-level Harley to a host of fresh new Softail models.
However, firm orders for the Roadster and Iron 883 were enough for the company to decide to make 883cc and 1200cc versions.
The new 2021 Harley-Davidson Sportster S features.
Harley has reduced the weight to 502 pounds. The Sportser S arrives with the steel trellis swingarm integrated. With Showa at the rear and fully adjustable 43mm USD Showa fork art front.
It further gets the Dunlop GT503 tires and lightweight aluminium cast wheels, making it more nimble and easy to handle.
As for the brakes, have a Brembo monoblock calliper binding a 320 mm front disc at the front and the 260 MM Brembo unit on the opposite end.
The rare breed also has all LED lighting, a four-inch TFT console, ABS and traction control. You have an option to select modes from three ride modes the Road, Rain and Sport.
The Sportser S also gets Bluetooth connectivity. Which means you have navigation, music, and incoming/outgoing calls available with a single click.
Harley has added two power points for heated grips. Further. It also has a USB-C Port that helps to charge the mobile.
The robust electronic package also has an ambient temperature sensor that warns when the temperature is low and has cruise control.
The tank is an 11.37 litres tank which is 3.1-gallon.
On occasion, Harley-Davidson CEO Jochen Zeitz said, “The Sportster S is the next all-new motorcycle built on the Revolution Max platform. And sets a new performance standard for the Sportster line”.
The new 2021 Sportser S is available in three shades Midnight Crimson, Vivid Black. And Stone Washed White Pearl with a $14,999 base price.
With the option to add accessories like a model-specific tail bag, mind-control conversion kit or a detachable windshield. Although bookings are open fod India Harley has kept the price tag under the wrap.
