Royal Enfield’s global reach has never been far-reaching enough to bring the mountains of India to American tarmac and the streets of Europe. But that doesn’t mean there isn’t plenty to be said about the collectability factor of a pair of commemorative motorcycles. 

For example, when Royal Enfield announced in Dec 2021. It would introduce a limited-edition memorial motorcycle 650 Twins celebrating the brand’s 120th anniversary, fans began twitching with excitement.

While enthusiasts’ ability to purchase the limited edition Royal Enfield 650 Twins was in question, and only “select countries” would be able to buy one of the commemorative motorcycles (according to a press release). More recent news reveals that the Twins completely sold out in India in just 80 minutes almost immediately after going on sale this morning.

The Continental GT 650 and Interceptor 650. Just 120 limited-edition Continental GT 650s have been allotted to each market: America, Europe, and Southeast Asia. Out of a total of 480 limited edition units.

How fast it sold?

India is the world’s largest motorcycle market.And how enthusiasts snatched up these Anniversary editions shows just how much ten minutes is worth. 

It is not uncommon for a new bike offering to be limited to specific allotments. But the speed at which this happened suggests the product teams at Royal Enfield did a great job of communicating with their customers. 

Also, they could have simply produced more bikes and pushed back the release date slightly, too.

It also meant once these bikes get sold out. You will never be able to see one on the road. Several bike enthusiasts managed to grab a unit of the bike they wanted. 

The special 120th Anniversary edition arrives with a blacked-out theme and black exhaust. It also gets the unique badge from Enfield’s original 1901 Certificate of Incorporation.

Further, it has a new design, gold pinstripes.Saddle stitching, and grips with decals taking inspiration from the brand’s history.

The photos of the bikes created much buzz on social media, which is an accurate reflection of how people felt about the motorcycles when they revealed the first image. All the limited models have been sold out officially in minutes.
