Italian brand Moto Guzzi will celebrate a storied centennial this year. One that the manufacturer has used to kick-start a new decade of design and technology leadership.
The brand first unveiled the V100 Mandello at EICMA in early November. But hasn’t been shy about its other large-displacement plans for 2022. It looks like Moto Guzzi has its next sport-tourer in not only the pipeline but also a modern naked.
Rumours of a Moto Guzzi V7 R have persisted for years. As the Italian marque has yet to release an updated version of its popular retro-modern V7 range.
Moto. it posted a spy shot earlier this month that caught the popular naked bike amid some camouflage. However, and reveals a completely redesigned front fascia complete with LED headlights and rear turn signals.
Specs
At first glance, this prototype model appears to be simply another colour option for existing V7s. However, closer inspection reveals a swoopy new tank shape with increased legroom. And a new seat that wraps around the engine to improve rider ergonomics and reduce weight.
The new V7 will have an air-cooled 853cc V-Twin engine.
The information comes from an existing but Moto Guzzi unpublished website. This website describes the bike as a “synthesis of different worlds such as the flat track and that of the scrambler.” This means that it will be an adventure touring and off-road bike.
However, we could also see its further details like the weight.Which is 470 pounds (213 kg) and 10 pounds (4.5 kgs) less than V7 Stone.
The V850X further will get the long swingarm, sizeable rear tire. Upgraded Kayaba suspension, and the V Twin engine, which comes from the V85 TT, will churn 65 hp at 6,800 rpm and 53.8 lb-ft of torque at 5,000 pm.
Virtually all of the latest Moto Guzzi motorcycles have been inspired by older models. So it’s no surprise that the company is rounding out its V7 family with a retro-themed V850X model based on a 1950s design.
