With the Aprilia Tuareg, the Italian manufacturer seems to have spotted a gap in the market.
While there are just as many adventure motorcycles as ever, the newest ones are either dainty roadsters or hefty do-it-all bikes.
Neither of which is precisely suitable for tackling dirt with gusto. So the Tuareg 660.
Earlier this week, the manufacturer began with a short and enigmatic teaser — presumably hinting at a new model — that arrived in the form of a pixelated photo of an “EICMA 2021” standee.
Now, just days later, Aprilia has released another little teaser. However, it is not a new bike. It is recently Tuareg 660.
This time, however, the video teaser does not look to be tied to the future of the Tuareg adventure bike.
Instead, it teases another part of the company’s middleweight line-up that has not seen too much attention lately.
The teaser time showed the Tuareg dashing through an off-road canyon.
Tuareg 660
The clip is more aggressive than its previously shared predecessors and gives us a close-up look at the model’s eye-catching features and purposeful stance.
Aprilia is aware of the middleweight ADV trend. To attack the fast-growing segment, Aprilia has tapped into the company’s racing background to engineer a middleweight machine that’s racy at heart but one that still offers all-day comfort.
The brand had previously revealed that the Tuareg would feature a lightweight aluminium frame powered by a “newly developed” 660 cc Twin engine that channels its power to the ground via a six-speed gearbox.
And this 660cc twin calibrates to 80 hp and 51.63 foot-pounds of torque.
The brand hopes to capitalize on that success with the Tuareg 660 by being more “generous” with information. Rumours have it.
We just have to figure out how to remove Aprilia’s cloak of secrecy altogether.
More as the time comes.
