Bajaj to build a new facility near Chakan

Bajaj last made news when it secured the Excelsior naming rights. And in future, we may see the resurrection of the Excelsior brand.

In the recent news, Bajaj Auto one the largest motorcycle manufacturer has signed an MOU ( Memorandum of Understanding) with Government of Maharashtra.

The fundamental objective is to build the latest production plant in the Chakan, Maharashtra.

The production plant is the outcome of a proposed investment of Rs 650 crore. Bajaj will begin the production from 2023.

Bajaj already owns stakes in 48% stake in KTM and another 48% stake in the Swedish motorcycle marquee brand Husqarvana.

Plus in November 2019 Bajaj had signed a partnership agreement with Triumph.

In short, which does mean the new facility will produce Husqvarna, Triumph and KTM motorcycles.

Further, we may also see lower displacement motorcycles, an output of Bajaj and Triumph collaboration.

Ahead of Chetak, we may also see Bajaj building electric as in June 2019 we came to know about Bajaj and KTM building a common electric platform for electric vehicles.

More impetus to this news was when we saw the electric scooter’s actual sketch in June 2020.

As per Bike Wale, Maharashtra Government will help Bajaj Auto to get necessary approvals, registrations, clearances and permissions.

As far as the collaboration between Triumph and Bajaj goes we me may see more in future.

Although Triumph India has still kept the price of its Trident 660 under the wraps, Triumph India accepts the pre-orders for its newly launched Trident 660 in India with Rs 50,000 as the token amount.

However, we see the new facility from Bajaj will cater to multiple things.
