Recently Chinese motorcycle manufacturer, popularly known as Benda, has unveiled two new engines.
The new engine comes with breakthrough technologies, making more powerful and competitive motorcycles in the product line-up.
The V4 engine is a famous architecture that has been used for years by big brands such as MV Agusta and Ducati.
Benda, however, has its take on such an architecture for motorcycles. However, the new engine comes in two sizes.
First Engine BD476
The first engine is the BD476 combination, which comes with a capacity of 1,198 cc V4 4-cylinder, 4-valve, DOHC, liquid-cooled. The calibrates to 152hp.
The nomenclature here shows that the BD stands for Benda, four stands for pistons, and 76 refers to 76mm of bore size.
The powerplant is identical to what see in Yamaha VMax. The engine gets a 66mm stroke, whereas the VMax has a 90mm. The other good part is that it has an 11:5:1 highest compression ratio with a small no of rotations.
However, when we compare the 152 hp with the power of Aprilia RSV4 and Ducati Panigale, it is less.
But then, if we see the BD476 powerplant makes 120 Nm @ 9500 rpm of peak torque which is quite splendid.
Second Engine BD453
Similar to BD476, let’s break the nomenclature of BD453. The 496cc displacement and 53 denotes the size of cylinder 4 denotes a cylinder.
The engine arrives in a square shape. And makes a good amount of torque at low rpm.
Usually, the engine, when compared to stroke, has a more significant size.
The powerplant makes 56 hp (HP) at 10,000 rpm and 33 Ib-Ft peak torque at 8,000 rpm, which looks good on paper.
In the past, not many engines have been used as cylinder motorcycle engines.
In the past, 4-cylinder engines were almost exclusively reserved for touring bikes and motorcycles, but the launch of the Honda VF500 in 1984 created a new category of bikes.
The supersport – which separated bikes with touring fairings from those built for performance.
The original Honda VF500 was a perfect storm of technology, packed with features that would become mainstays on thoroughbreds from Yamaha and Suzuki, an engine with its share of prestige.
However, Benda’s engine is different.
V-Twin Turbo engine 300cc
We are not sure as to which models Benda will stack these BD476 and BD453. However, Benda has confirmed their availability. We understand Benda will use these two engines in their new motorcycles for 2022.
With 300cc V-Twin Turbo and 680cc inline four-cylinder engine. Benda has aggressive plans to enter the European market.
