Thierry Sabine, the man behind the Paris Dakar rally, started this adventurous race while he lost his Libyan motorcycle desert during the Abidjan-Nice Rally.

And this was way back in 1977 when Thierry came up with his route via Algiers crossing Agadez and finishing at Dakar.

However, this a little background about the Paris Dakar rally.

To continue the trend Bolt Motors based in Spain has built a custom BMW GS80 Paris-Dakar and mind well the custom will push an adrenaline rush in your veins.

R80G/S

GS80 or R80G/S was the first motorcycle under the GS category and was the brainchild of Rudiger Gutsche for BMW Motorrad.

Eventually, the GS80 did not survive for long as it was present for seven years from 1980 to 1987.

The engine is 795cc flat-twin boxer with five-speed gear transmission capable of producing 50 hp (37 kW) and 41 lb-ft (56 N⋅m) torque.

With just 186 kgs, the motorcycle had a top speed of 167 km/h. R100GS succeeded the GS80, however, again unlike the GS80 the R100GS to survived for seven years from 1987–1994.

However, the R100GS had a massive 980cc engine with updated suspension and Paralever drive unit.

Coming back to the custom the folks at Bolt motors did ensure it gets best components the look remains classic.

And they wanted to restore something very simple and clean yet make a massive impact during the long run.

Folks at Bolt Motors had put connecting rods, crankshaft and engine block come newly fitted which is to ensure everything works butter smooth and synchronously.

And the client too had the same expectations. Further, the bike gets improved electronic components. The client expected to have better visibility, and the same was satisfied by Bolt Motors by installing a special long-range kit for both the original and external lights.

The standard Achilles heels on the brakes were replaced by oversized discs and a more powerful calliper. For long and safe rides Bolt Motors worked upon the suspension.

Bolt motors made paint scheme and aesthetics to align it with Paris-Dakar. The result well you got to see yourself a neatly restored BMW GS80 now comes with more meaning.
