Details

Cadillac is expanding its electric vehicle lineup with three new models to join the existing Lyriq SUV and Celestiq flagship hatchback. The prototype spotted appears to be a mid-size three-row SUV that is expected to replace the gas-powered XT6.

The vehicle is heavily camouflaged, but it shares design cues with the Lyriq, such as the front fascia lines, vertical headlights, and the beak-like visor on the hood. However, the rear looks different due to the need to accommodate a third row, with a relatively flat roof, unlike the sloping rear of the Lyriq.

Inside, the mid-size SUV is likely to have a similar design to the Lyriq, featuring a clean and uncluttered dash with a large curved screen integrating a digital instrument cluster and infotainment hub.

GMs battery technology

Under the hood, the vehicle is expected to use General Motors’ Ultium platform and battery technology, similar to the Lyriq. Powertrain options should be comparable, with a battery capacity of around 100 kWh and the choice of rear- or all-wheel drive. All-wheel-drive variants might offer a peak output of around 500 horsepower.

The other two Cadillac EVs to be revealed this year are the Escalade IQ, set to debut on August 9th, and a compact offering called the Optiq, whose design was revealed through a Chinese government website in July.

3 new EVs

Since production for the three new EVs is expected to begin in 2024, they are likely to be available as 2025 models. The Celestiq will also enter production later this year as a 2024 model. It seems Cadillac is making significant strides towards electrification with these exciting new additions to their lineup.

Conclusion

Cadillac is clearly committed to electrifying its lineup, and this new mid-size three-row electric SUV is a sign of that commitment. The vehicle is likely to be a popular choice for families looking for a stylish and spacious electric SUV.

With its Ultium platform and battery technology set, the vehicle should offer a long range and plenty of power. We’ll have to wait until later this year to see the final product, but based on what we know so far, it looks like Cadillac is on to something good.
