Graphic Novel
What happened at the Malaysian Grand Prix is no secret. It was one of the most significant accidents in MotoGP history. And one of the most devastating motorcycle crashes ever captured on camera.
Marco Simoncelli lost his life that afternoon, and Supernovas fell into obscurity soon after.
But now, author Fabio Fagnani is putting Simoncelli’s story back in the spotlight with 58. A new graphic novel based on the Italian’s life, death, and legacy.
The path that leads to Marco Simoncelli is one of pure fascination. His desire to race, the rage in his eyes when he won, his passion for life are still alive in their way.
A “fairy-tale” written by Fabio Fagnani and illustrated by Noemi Parente. Now, Simoncelli’s accomplishments are explored through this graphic novel.
Simoncelli was one of the fastest and most aggressive riders of his generation. A lot of that aggression sprang from a life-long fear of losing — fear of failing.
If we examine this young man’s path, we see many parallels to fairy tales and myths more than we do with other sports.
And I believe those stories created the legend of Marco Simoncelli and inspired others to dream and succeed as well.
Simoncelli was a free spirit, and Fabio has very well captured his energy in the pages of 58. The author, Fabio Fagnani, does a great job at giving Simoncelli a voice.
With Sic’s 10th anniversary approaching, it will be a good way to bring back his beautiful racing memories, and you can buy this graphic novel at €20 ($23).
