Yamaha India unveiled the new Yamaha YZF-R15 V4.0 in India. The company has launched the new motorcycle in two variants – Standard and M.
It promises to inherit the best attributes of the earlier model and take them further through a slew of hardware.
With aggressive styling, high-quality design elements and class-leading engineering, it stands shoulder to shoulder with the big boys in the segment.
Let us check what do we have in version 4.0
Engine
The liquid-cooled single overhead camshaft fuel injection engine calibrates to a maximum horsepower of 13.5kW(18.4PS)/10000r/min and maximum torque of 14.2N.m (1.4kgf.m) / 7500r/min.
What’s more, the engine comes equipped with a Traction Control System and a Quick Shifter (up-shift).
It also arrives with a VVA system that provides torque for ease of use even at low RPM. There are two intake valve cams: low- to mid-range rpm and high rpm.
They switch between each other at the 7,400 rpm mark to ensure good power and torque throughout the entire rev range.
Electronic Package
An A&S (assist and slipper) clutch is adopted to reduce the weight of the clutch pull and provide low-stress shifting during deceleration.
The A&S helps to reduce fatigue for the rider.
It prevents excessive engine braking, thus reducing its effects on chassis behaviour. The A&S clutch makes for smooth, enjoyable downshifts.
The R15M comes with Traction Control System. It is a dedicated electronic system that has the remarkable ability to reduce the chances of wheelspin (slippage due to loss of traction).
The Quick Shifter (up-shift) allows for clutch-less shifting of gears. It increases the comfort of riding the vehicle since it eliminates the need to use the clutch or throttle before and after a gearshift.
The Bike gets the Y Connect app that will allow you to receive phone notifications on your instrument cluster screen.
Design and Chassis
The aluminium swingarm gives you the advantage of a significant reduction in unsprung weight, making the Bike easier to handle.
The R15M employs an upside-down front suspension fork with 37 mm inner tubes to take the sporty handling on twisty roads to the next level.
The upside-down front forks improve rigidity and provide stability while taking high speed turns or high braking input.
140/70R17M/C 66H radial tyre has been adopted at the rear with flexible sidewalls for better grip while cornering and superior shock-absorbing capacity to ensure a more comfortable ride.
Enjoy the outstanding performance with superior control. R15M comes with 282mm front and 220mm rear disc brakes with Anti-lock Braking System (ABS).
It means precise braking even when the Bike is at a very high speed, without any wheel lock-ups. It ensures a confident, inspiring ride and let the rider enjoy the ride to the fullest.
With the in-built side stand engine cut-off switch, you do not forget to remove the side stand during those immediate rides.
In bustling cities, a good horn can make the difference between being seen and noticed. Let the town hear you ride your way into the future. R15M has got that covered too.
With new split horns delivering higher and lower decibels (Dual Tone), here’s a racer that genuinely sounds like one.
