Assen, Dutch GP started with a bang. However, the arrival of rains in the afternoon meant the tracks were slower than usual. We last saw the track on GP Calendar in 2019, and to date, it was mostly absent due to COVID-19.
The FP2 result saw Maverick Vinales taking the top spot. The German GP champ Marc Marquez was thrown off this bike at 130km/h.
However, what made the champ go off the Repsol is still not clear. We could see the rain playing a spoilsport at the end of the FP2 session, and multiple riders were pushed to race on wet tyres.
A lucky escape for @marcmarquez93 on Friday afternoon at Assen! 😲

On the other hand, Franco Morbidelli had to stay away from the track due to a knee injury. American Garrett Gerloff replaced him, who stands sixth at the World Superbike championship for GRT Yamaha.
