Remy Gardner MotoGP 2022 contract news

As the 2022 MotoGP season gets close, we’ve got many changes on the horizon. And along with these changes comes many expectations.

One of the riders under a million different expectations is Remy Gardner, the young Aussie who will be changing GP classes with his move to the MotoGP World Championship.

Thirty-five years after his father’s domination of the 500cc World Championship, Remy Gardner will enter the 2022 MotoGP world championship. It is a monumental achievement in its own right – no other Australian has been able to claim a spot in the premier motorcycle racing class.

While his 2021 season went well, the Australian MotoGP star fractured his wrist in a motocross training crash on Saturday, January 15, 2022.

Gardner was completing pre-season training for the upcoming season when he fell. The accident resulted in a minor fracture in the rider’s right wrist.

However, Doctor Xavier Mir of Dexeus University Hospital could perform surgery to place two screws in his arm; Gardner will begin rehab this week.

Schedule

With only 11 days left for the first 2022 MotoGP Shakedown Test, the 23-year-old rider will not participate in the pre-season championship test on February 5-6, 2022.

The type of injury could impact the Australian’s performance should he return too quickly.

Four newcomers will join Remy Garnder in MotoGP, and they are Fabio Di Giannantonio (Team Gresini Racing), Darryn Binder (WithU RNF Yamaha) and Marco Bezzecchi (Valentino Rossi VR46), as they aim to make an impact in their 2022 MotoGP season.

If all goes well, Remy will join these four rookies. Otherwise, he will have to wait.

With a proposed testing schedule for the new season, the first test taking place in the Mandalika test is scheduled for February 11-13, 2022.

The next round is scheduled to occur at Jerez on February 22-24, 2022; four days after, Gardner will have an option to race on his KTM RC16 before the first round in Qatar.
