As it turns, today (thanks to this article). We are going to take a look at some of the best papercrafts on the Yamaha site.

Our source for this comes from a recent interview with designer Mr Mukaiyama by Mosai.A papercraft designer who helped build and promote these designs on the official Yamaha website.

That means we can give him all the credit for designing fun stuff. And it was during the meeting with colleague Mr Mukaiyama was requested to add his design on the website.

These beautiful machines have been available since 1997. Yamaha decided that there should be paper models of motorcycles on the Internet.

And, if you were devoted enough (and had the time and funding) to build models of Yamaha bikes using intricate detail — like folding in wheels. Then the company would promote your work on its site.

The most prolific of these was Yamaha Papercraft. That allowed users to create papercraft models of Yamaha motorcycles.

Paperwork

By creating an account through the website (or, more likely, with one of the official mobile apps).Users could access the paper pattern for any bike and build it themselves.

It’s rather impressive precisely because it’s so simple.Anyone with some free time and sufficient skill could make high-quality paper toys that incorporate authentic designs.

Literally, anyone could create these paper sculptures.Print them and even can download them. And this was free.

In addition to talking to Mosai about how he originally began designing motorcycles for Yamaha, Mukouyama also discussed.

His thoughts on the overall purpose of papercraft. Why he chose motorcycles to design in the first place, and how his work has evolved over 20 years.

He says he chose bikes because he felt it would be a challenge. And felt that making a motorcycle from paper would re-emphasize its mechanical components.

Papercrafts were an integral aspect of that year’s Tokyo Motor Show.Which pointed to a design future where motorcycles could be better than their steel counterparts.

Taking a look at his work, it’s hard not to notice the intricate details he includes with each model. The most noticeable of these paper used for parts of each vehicle.

From wheels to exhaust pipes, entire motorcycles are made solely from this single material.

Although it may seem simple. Mukouyama tells us that one of the most complex parts of designing these paper models.

Perhaps there are other papercraft artisans still out there.Producing an occasional paper motorcycle. But the official advent of the Internet brought about a sort of revolution in the field.

Much like wallpaper or graphic designs.3D modelling programs. And this has made it possible to turn just about any image into a 3D-printable object. It means there’s almost no limit to what can be done with papercraft motorcycles.

Models are much more detailed than ever before. And they often feature moving parts that were never possible in previous years.
