When the Ducati Multistrada first emerged on the scene in 2003, it polarized opinions. Many were taken aback by its unique design, often drawing cheeky comparisons to household appliances, while others saw its potential as a game-changer in the world of motorcycles.
The early naysayers were soon silenced. Over the span of two decades, the Multistrada transformed from an oddball in the motorcycle community to an iconic adventurer-tourer loved by many.

Its evolution has been nothing short of remarkable. The shift to the Testastretta 1198 in 2010 not only gave it more power but also brought along innovative features that enhanced ride quality and safety. These included multiple ride modes, emphasizing its versatility and adventure-oriented nature. It’s hard to forget the bike’s distinctive “beak,” a design element that has become synonymous with the Multistrada’s identity.

Multistrada 1260
2015’s Multistrada 1260 showcased Ducati’s ambition to be at the forefront of motorcycle technology. With the Skyhook Suspension, cornering ABS, and double variable timing, riders were given an experience that balanced power, comfort, and safety. This was a motorcycle that was ready to tackle both city streets and mountainous terrains with equal aplomb.
But Ducati wasn’t done there. The introduction of the Multistrada V4 in 2020 marked a giant leap in motorcycle tech, with radar-assisted Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) and Blind Spot Detection (BSD). These weren’t just iterative upgrades; they were industry-first features, signalling Ducati’s intent to set the bar for what a modern motorcycle should offer.

What’s next for the Multistrada? One can only guess, but if its past is any indicator, it’s going to be nothing short of spectacular.
As the saying goes, “From humble beginnings come great things.” The Ducati Multistrada is living proof of that. Here’s to another two decades of revolutionary exploration!
