Never afraid to try something new, the F.B Mondial HPS 125 Ubbiali is an interesting new take on the company’s HPS 125 model, which is an update (albeit with different styling) of the iconic Husky bikes that dominated European racing in the late 1970s.
The Ubbiali edition doesn’t look too radical upon first glance; it appears to be a streetfighter version of F.B. Mondial’s popular HPS model, but it quickly becomes apparent this is no standard sportbike when you get your first close look at it.
We’ve seen many special editions or limited-edition bikes over the years. Some are beautiful, while others are not so beautiful, but all are very interesting.
This is F.B. Mondial’s HPS 125 Ubbiali, made in honour of the nine-time 125cc G.P. World Champion who passed in June 2020 at age 90.
Carlo Ubbiali, in the 12 seasons, took three 250cc titles and nine 125cc titles. Out of these, he won eight with M V Agusta.
F.B. Mondial once again pays homage to one of its most important milestones with the launch of the special-edition HPS 125. It is built on the brand’s neo-retro HPS platform.
The special-edition naked bike pays tribute to the nine-time Grand Prix world champion “Ubbiali” with several styling upgrades that position it closer to famous racing colours of sparkling silver, royal blue and gold.
The number 77 was used by Ubbiali during the 1951 championship on the bike and 9 on its side, which shows that he holds nine Grand Prix titles.
The bike has a tall and wide handlebar with an eight-litre fuel tank.
Further, the F.B. Mondial HPS 125 Ubbialo edition has a few more tricks up its sleeve than just being easy on the eyes.
The new motorcycle gets some severe updates to go with the Dell’Orto electronic fuel injection system is standard with Euro 5 compliance adds more rigour.
The 125cc mill makes 13.5 horsepower and 7.7 lb-ft of torque. The Ubbaili edition comes with a price tag of €4,595 ($5,300 ), and the standard model costs HPS 125’s €4,465 ($5,200).
