Kinga, the adventurous motorcyclist from Australia, embarked on a solo trip worldwide on her BMW F800GS. One of her stops was the town of Lajitas in Texas, specifically to visit an oasis in the vast desert of Big Bend Country. This area is known for its famous goat mayor, Clay Henry IV.
Political figure
Clay Henry IV is part of a unique political goat history in Lajitas. It all began with Clay Henry Sr., a beer-drinking goat who became mayor in 1986 and gained popularity as a political figure. Clay Henry Sr.’s drinking habits led him to father a son, Clay Henry Jr.
In a surprising turn of events, Clay Henry Sr. was tragically killed by his own son in 1992 during a dispute over a female goat during the rutting season. The motive was clear, but no criminal conviction was possible due to their animal nature. Clay Henry Jr. succeeded his father as mayor.
Mayor
However, Clay Henry Jr. resigned from office in the late 1990s, and Clay Henry III took over as mayor in 2000. Clay Henry III’s tenure was cut short by an assassination attempt in 2002, after which he stepped down from his position.
This leads us to the current mayor, Clay Henry IV. He assumed office a few years after Clay Henry III resigned and was featured in Kinga’s video. In the video, Kinga happily presented Clay Henry IV with a treat, showcasing the exciting encounter with the goat mayor.

She experienced Southern hospitality, enjoyed delicious food, encountered sand in her tent, and witnessed a live music performance. After two days of meeting new and intriguing individuals, including the goat mayor, it was time for Kinga to continue her journey on her adventure bike.
