To any motorcycle enthusiast, an almost-new Ducati 998S is a magnificent and mythical beast.
The very letters “9-9-8” strike fear into the hearts of men. And if you didn’t understand the blasphemy of doing something as wantonly irresponsible as putting a mere 1,300 miles on one.
Then you had better have known better than to be daydreaming while reading this opening line.
They were fast, gorgeous and in small quantities once limited to racing only.Boastingly potent to the tune of around 136 horsepower with a pedigree only matched by its spiritual successor—the 1098R.
The specs
This Ducati 998S is one of the rarest motorcycles you could buy. The motorcycle was produced only in 2003 and 2004, with 155 units being shipped to the United States, all for sale in Ducati dealerships.
The model was made to pay tribute to American racer Ben Bostrom.Who won six races in the 2001 WSBK championship and finished third overall.
Of course, this 998 isn’t perfect because it’s a replica -– nor is it as fast as what the former World Superbike Champion rode. But even so, there’s plenty of good to this bike. “The bike comes ready to ride out of the box and as a replica Ben Bostrom 998 S, it has stayed true in spirit to its design. The build quality is superb, and the fit and finish are excellent for a factory replica.”
The bike arrives in the white, blue and red shade. And we could see the trellis frame too comes painted in metallic blue and remains untouched for nineteen years.
For good the bike gest the Brembos, Ohlins suspension and light Marchesini wheels. The 998 L Twin made 136 horses when the bike was new. However, the bike gets a top speed of 180 miles per hour.
