Toyota has decided to implement three-shift operations at its manufacturing facility in Bidadi starting in May 2023. This move is aimed at increasing production output by more than 30%. Additionally, Toyota expects to generate approximately 25% more employment opportunities due to this ramp-up in production.

To support the increased production capacity, Toyota will enrol more skilled technicians from the Toyota Technical Training Institute (TTTI). Last year, the company expanded the intake capacity of the institute to accommodate 1,200 students. Toyota has a team of 6,000 members, including production and non-production staff.

The demand for some of Toyota’s models has resulted in an order backlog. The waiting period for the Urban Cruiser Hyryder varies between 7 and 20 months, depending on the variant. 

As for the Innova Hycross, the waiting period is approximately 6 months. These waiting times indicate the popularity and demand for these models, prompting Toyota to increase production to meet customer needs.
