Triumph has made many iconic motorcycles throughout its years of operation. Some, like the Bonneville or the Speedmaster, are incredibly legendary, but I don’t think Triumph ever did anything to top the X-75 Hurricane. The X-75 Hurricane was a “factory special” designed by fairing specialist Craig Vetter.
X-75 Hurricane
The swoopy glass-fibre bodywork helped create a new category of motorcycle – the cruiser. However, the 740 ccs (58hp) X-75 Hurricane was sold from 1972 to 1973, and Triumph could sell just 1200 units.
And now Triumph is reportedly looking to bring the Hurricane nameplate back. As you’re probably aware, Triumph has been pushing the Bonneville platform globally with new model variants — including the Bonneville T100 and Speed Twin 1200, which fall under the “Modern Classics” category.
After strong demand for these bikes, on April 6, 2023, Triumph had already applied to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) for rights to the Triumph Hurricane name. There may also be an attempt to revive the Hurricane nameplate from the past.

The filing comes nearly 50 years after the original Hurricane last appeared in European showrooms. As if that wasn’t enough, back in 2003, Triumph was the one who was looking forward to reviving the Hurricane nameplate, with spy shots having a 1,298cc four-cylinder A13C with aggressive bodywork.
However, the documents need to provide more information on the model. Although we don’t expect Triumph to leverage an existing platform, we now know what could be coming through these trademark filings.
Given that on Triumph on February 28, 2023, they ensured they had the right to share the Triumph Street Tracker name. And we won’t be surprised if Triumph brings the new Street Tracker as they have partnered with Bajaj.
As far as the Adventure moniker goes. The British manufacturer is preparing to group them into a new family of Tiger models, as we had already anticipated under the ” Adventure” name. We expect a new Tiger 660 will be already making a way. However, we will have to wait until Triumph makes an official announcement.
