Aston Martin has revealed the DB12, the successor to the DB11. The DB12 is described as the world’s first super tourer and the most complete and accomplished DB model in Aston Martin’s history. While it does not feature a V12 engine like its name might suggest, optimized twin-turbo power it 4.0-litre V8 sourced from Mercedes-AMG.
V8 Engine
The V8 engine in the DB12 produces 671 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque, representing an increase of over 30 percent compared to its V8 predecessor and 41 horsepower more than the DB11 AMR with its uprated 5.2-litre V12. The coupe can accelerate from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 3.5 seconds, with a top speed of 202 mph.
Aston Martin has made several significant revisions to the V8 engine, including modified cam profiles, optimized compression ratios, larger turbochargers, and improved cooling with a redesigned cooling system. The DB12 also features an electronic rear differential and an eight-speed automatic transmission.
DB12
The DB12 has next-generation adaptive dampers and stiffer anti-roll bars to handle the increased forces. It offers three driving modes – GT, Sport, and Sport+ – each with escalating responsiveness and stiffness. The car’s design includes a revised front fascia with a prominent grille, new LED headlights, a reshaped splitter, 21-inch wheels, and intelligent features like frameless side mirrors and flush door handles.
Inside the cabin, the DB12 features a driver-centric centre console, Alcantara leather, and an all-new infotainment system developed by Aston Martin. The system includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, a new navigation system with online connectivity and 3D mapping, a mobile device application, and over-the-air updates.
India launch will happen on September 29 with a price tag of priced from Rs 4.80 crore, ex-showroom, India.
