The Benelli TRK 502, the Italian brand’s sales breakthrough model. Has helped rocket sales for the marque in Italy.

But look further east, and it’s the manufacturer’s fun.Retro-styled TRK 502c that satisfies customers in markets such as Singapore, Thailand and the Philippines.

Not only has the bike been successful with customers. But dealers have also been ordering more significant numbers of Benelli machines since its launch.

And that may be one reason why it’s no surprise to see a new V-Twin adventure bike heading for showrooms soon.

However, Benelli’s global ambitions have seen strong export sales to multiple countries fuelled by its successful launch in India in 2013. And further buoyed by the appearance of the TRK 502 model.

So, there comes little doubt that Benelli had its sight on Europe with an adventure-focused model. And this patent renders, and description indicate the direction they are probably going.

They filed the patent would follow this tradition, providing off-road quality with on-road performance.

But while its market niche is clear – it’s to be positioned with the Tenere 700 and Tuareg 660– its design remains very much in the trademark Benelli style. Which mixes lots of sharp edges and flat surfaces, lots of metal (and not plastic) for the bodywork.

T0 overall look it comes further helped by the twin-cylinder engine’s exposed state. While the side-mounted exhaust system can be seen terminating at the end of the -seat unit.

In recent years, a “650cc club” has formed with manufacturers digging into the archives. For a smaller displacement engine instead of going to the larger displacements.

It’s a move that’s garnered much attention from many manufacturers. Big and small, and this news could mean Benelli will be joining the party of 650cc V Twin soon.

Based on what we see in these patent renders, this new model will be called either the Benelli 650 or Benelli 650 Adventure.

The latter seems most likely since the name would sit in the middle of existing models such as the TNT 600 and Leoncino 800. Leaving space for a 750 should Benelli decide to go up in displacement.

Judging by these photos, it seems that the engine. Frame and swingarm will be utterly different from any other Benelli that we’ve seen before.

We expect to see this new ADV at EICMA next month, and given the “Benelli 650 V-twin ADV to take on Aprilia Tuareg 660 and Yamaha Tenere 700″ headline. It’s one of the most exciting things we’ve seen so far about their plans for 2022.
