Two-time MotoGP race winner Danilo Petrucci recently suffered a bone rupture during a training session for the upcoming Dakar 2022 Rally in South America.
The Dakar 2022 series will begin soon. Details around the crash have yet to emerge. However, Petrucci trained on KTM 450 Rally. Dubai, with Petrucci riding an off-road bike similar to those used in the world-famous rally for ten days.

He said, “I drove in the middle of the dunes and was travelling because I was ‘off piste’, that is, in deep sand. There was a little bump. Then I saw the continuation of the path again.
“But after the small bump, there was a bottomless hole, and I crashed hard on the bike when landing.
I put much force on the footrests, and this heavy compression caused a minor fracture on the right fibula.”
After sustaining a fracture on his left tibia, Danilo Petrucci is returning to home soil in Terni, Italy. Fortunately for the rider, the injury occurred during a training session and not while competing in a race. Recovery is expected to take 4-6 weeks.
Talking to Speedweek, he further said, “This bone rupture is not going to compromise my Dakar debut.
I don’t go jogging so far, but I cycle on the roller and continue my fitness training unhindered at home.
Fortunately, the break has not been postponed; therefore, no operation has been carried out.
I just have to keep my ankle moving, but I shouldn’t put too much weight on it.
But I have to say that all of the Pierer Mobility AG teams drivers are very nice to me.
They have helped me a lot. I asked them many questions. Further, they also gave me much valuable advice.
We also share all information in the roadbook. I am lucky that I have such friendly teammates.”
