Honda Motorcycles India has applied for the NX200 trademark last month as well as on April 26th.
With a much ambitious and aggressive plan, the President & CEO of Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India, Atsushi Ogata, said Honda is looking forward to expanding its portfolio.
- Indian Motorcycle files a trademark by the name ‘ Rogue.’
- Apart from YZF R-7, Yamaha files trademark for R1, R9, R15 and more
- Kawasaki India to unveil two new motorcycles
- Aprilia unveils the small capacity sports bike RS 125
The NX200 may get support from the existing Honda Hornet 2.0 BS6 platform with a 4 Stroke, SI Engine, BS-VI, 184.40cc engine, which calibrates to 12.7 kW (17.03 hp) @ 8500 rpm of power and 16.1 N-m @ 6000 rpm of torque.
The rumour has it the bike may take inspiration from the Honda CX-02 concept, which we had seen in Auto Expo 2016.
However, let’s not forget back in 1988, Honda did make Enduro by name NX 250 the model lasted until 1990.
It was a crossover dual-sport motorcycle. The motorcycle had multiple pseudo names like the AX-1 or Honda NX250 Dominator.
The engine was 249 cc (15.2 cu in), liquid-cooled, four-stroke, DOHC, single-cylinder and made 28.68 hp @ 8500 rpm.
Options
There are two ways either Honda may plan to take inspiration from the reasonably.
- New CX-02 concept or
- The Honda NX250.
However, Honda NX250 is old.
It will be interesting to see what Honda has in its mind. We cannot rule out the possibility of Honda using the CX-02 concept style and motor from 184.40cc.
NX200 trademark details
The conical sharp LED headlamp, beefy fuel tank, large exhaust, flat handlebars may very well suit the new NX200.
The NX200 may also well receive the disc brakes on both ends with 17-inch wheels.
While for suspension, there are mono’s on the rear and the USD on the front.
If things go as planned, we may see the bike in the latter half of 2021. The NX200 has strong competitors in the form of KTM 250 Adventure and the Hero Xpulse 200T.
The NX200 may very well retail at Rs 1.5 Lakh in India.
