The 2024 MotoE World Championship is already in full swing, and it’s shaping up to be a season of groundbreaking changes. This year, Ducati takes centre stage as the sole supplier of racing bikes for the series, solidifying its role as a trailblazer in the world of electric motorcycle racing.

MotoE

The MotoE racing series represents the pinnacle of technology in the realm of electric motorcycles. It serves as a crucial platform for pushing the boundaries of innovation, not just within MotoGP but for motorcycle racing as a whole.

In an official press release from MotoGP and Dorna Sports, the provisional calendar for the 2024 MotoE World Championship has been unveiled, featuring eight rounds with a total of 16 races spread across key European locations. What makes this season even more exciting is that it will feature the most races coordinated with the FIM MotoGP calendar.

Adding to the thrill is the inclusion of the Autodromo Internacional do Algarve in Portugal, a new addition to the MotoE calendar. Portugal’s debut as a MotoE host cements its name in the annals of motorcycle racing history. Additionally, two pre-season tests are scheduled in Portimao, setting the stage for an action-packed season ahead.

Schedule

The racing action kicks off on March 23, 2024, at Algarve, Portugal, and then moves on to Le Mans, France, on May 11, 2024. Following that, the series heads to Catalunya, Spain, on May 25, 2024, before returning to Italy for a homecoming race at Mugello on June 1, 2024. The excitement continues as the MotoE series visits the iconic TT Circuit Assen in the Netherlands on June 29, followed by the Sachsenring in Germany a week later on July 6. The last two race weekends of the season are scheduled for August 17 at the Red Bull Ring in Austria and September 7 at the Misano World Circuit.

Ducati V21L

But what truly sets this season apart is the Ducati V21L, the powerhouse used in the MotoE racing series. This electric marvel promises a mind-boggling top speed of 171 miles per hour, all packed into a motor that’s roughly the size of a soda can. The V21L is known for out-accelerating some of the fastest production motorcycles on the market. What’s more, it tips the scales at just 225 kilograms, making it incredibly lightweight for an electric motorcycle of this performance calibre. Its use of carbon fiber battery housing as part of the chassis helps keep the weight down, enhancing its manoeuvrability and overall performance.

As the 2024 MotoE season unfolds, we can expect thrilling races, cutting-edge technology, and a bright future for electric motorcycle racing. Ducati’s involvement as the exclusive bike supplier adds a new dimension to the series and underscores the importance of innovation in shaping the future of motorcycle racing. Stay tuned for an electrifying season ahead!
