Burgman Electric

Pegged as a 125cc equivalent, the Burgman Electric is expected to parallel the acceleration and top speed of its petrol counterpart which has gained traction in the Indian market. A standout feature of this electric offering is its battery-swapping capability, courtesy of Gachaco, a renowned battery-swapping consortium that includes big names such as Honda, Kawasaki, Yamaha, and Suzuki.

Suzuki’s underlying objective with this demonstration project is to glean insights into user behaviour patterns concerning electric two-wheelers. This data will subsequently be pivotal in shaping the direction of Suzuki’s future electric motorcycle endeavours.

An interesting tidbit is that the Burgman electric version is already live on Suzuki’s official Japanese website. A cursory glance reveals striking resemblances to the internal combustion engine (ICE) version of the Burgman Street 125 retailed in India, with just minor variations setting them apart.

As per preliminary details, the e-Burgman is equipped with a 4kW motor, capable of delivering a maximum torque of 18Nm. The reported battery range stands at 44km, a figure that many industry experts find underwhelming. However, optimism reigns high, with many speculating that the finalized version will undoubtedly boast enhanced range and better motor specifications. In alignment with the evolving electric scooter segment, it is anticipated to be replete with contemporary features such as seamless smartphone integration and advanced security mechanisms.

The global unveiling of the production-ready Suzuki Burgman Electric is projected for next year, with its Indian launch anticipated to follow soon after.
