The Honda RC213V-S arrives as a unique motorcycle. As close as you can get to MotoGP technology and bring it to the streets, we haven’t seen anything like this before.

As a homologation special, the RC213V-S is a specially built bike to follow the rules of Honda’s participation in MotoGP.

When it comes to expensive, rare motorcycles, few bikes in the world belong in the “most expensive” category.

Alongside two-wheeled vehicles from Ducati and Yamaha, MotoGP racebikes are to fetch millions at auction.

These bikes were homologation machines built to satisfy a requirement for a manufacturer to enter a competition, but they’re scarce since homologation usually included a production cap of a couple of hundred units.

The Honda motorcycle is considered to be the pinnacle of motorbikes, thanks to its superb craftsmanship.

Also the fact that it belongs to a minimal edition created by the OEM.

That rarity alone was enough to make it a must-have for avid collectors. But trust me, there are plenty of other reasons why the Honda RC213V-S became the most expensive Japanese bike ever auctioned.

Based on the MotoGP machine that Marc Marquez rode to his first-ever MotoGP championship in 2016, Honda only produced very limitedly for the Japanese market.

The mind-blowing price tag gets justified by the fact that this RC213V-S has bare minimum flaws, let alone imperfections.

While we all think we know the value of our two wheels, nothing will prepare your jaws for when you see how much one bike, in particular, recieved an auction.

Auction

The RC213V-S arrives as arguably the most beautiful machine ever created by Honda’s engineering department.

And if you have an acceleration fetish, this machine will be right up your street.

However on October 31, 2021 an pristine 2016 RC213V-S was auctioned for JPY 27,100,000 ( $237,700). And the auction was carried by Bingo and Yahoo!

The previous record dates back to 1968, when the Honda CB750 prototype made $221,600 in 2018.

Looking at the motorcycles auction history, it’s hard to find any other bike that gained value this quickly.

Usually, high-budget superbikes are auctioned years later for pretty high prices if their owners aren’t using them.

The value of this rare MotoGP machine is rising rapidly, which means that the hefty price tag of the RC213V-S is not likely to slow down anytime soon.

Given the fact there are only 213 copies, the machine indeed becomes an exclusive choice.
