Honda CBR1000RR-R_LWG

As the new Honda CBR1000RR-R SP arrives, we talk more about the tech specs. The Honda CBR1000RR-R SP will come with inline-four 999cc engine setup with same bore and stroke (81*48.5mm) as it is present in the RCV213V the MotoGP bike.

Compared to the older Firelblade which has 76mm as well GSXR1000, Kawasaki. ZX-10R too has the same.

If we compare the bores of other superbikes like the BMW S1000RR or Yamaha R1, they have 80mm and 79mm respectively.

Going back to the new CBR1000RR-R SP it has 81mm which when compared to the Aprilia RSV4 and Ducati Panigale V4 are same.

Further, the inlet valves get the 32.5mm dimension and exhaust gets the 28.5mm. For appropriate precision with rotation speeds, there is also a mechanism to reduce the chain length.

Internals

However, the older models had 24mm and 29.5mm. When it comes to V4, they are 27.5mm and 34mm. While it comes to other manufacturers, they use the finger rockers to operate these valves.

Cams now come coated with DLC to manage the efficiency. Now, this allows to reduce the friction by 35%, and this is first Honda had used in the mass motorcycles.

As the Pistons comes made up of forged aluminium, they shed weight by 5% compared to the older piston. Titanium made connecting rods again sheds weight by 50% when compared to its steel counterparts. Plus the surface is coated with the DLC.

Further, the multi-point jet spray is responsible for cooling the pistons. The crankshaft comes with more extensive journals, and it is sufficient to reduce deflection that happens due to the combustion energy and the inertia of rotation.

When there is sizeable aerodynamic pressure, the mechanism directs the air intake to the airbox via the channel located in the windshield.

More internals

To maintain the internal airflow walls come with the ducts so the air which helps during the speed. The other useful feature is the keyless ignition system wherein the air passes through the steering head.

To reduce the flow rate, the top side of the filter comes with more width, which has 25% more surface area when compared to the older.

With different lengths, the air then goes to the eccentric ducts. Throttle bodies to reduce the suction pressure now come in oval shape plus they come in a larger size from 48mm to 52mm.

The intake valve angle comes updated to 9 degrees from 11 now this does increase the efficiency of the combustion chamber.

Now the engine also comes near to throttle bodies which improve the throttle response. There is a 13% reduction in the intake valve seat. Addition of Steel made shaft instead of Brass which is more robust and helps to reduce the friction.

Akrapovic, in collaboration with Honda, has developed the exhaust.

Further, both Akra and Honda has worked on to improve the flow of gases by making the oval-shaped manifolds.

There is a change in dimension of a catalyst by 10mm; however, no change in the total weight of the system.

Honda has also reduced the size of the powertrain. The rear portion of the engine block now acts as the shock absorber.

Now, this all makes the new Fireblade get 217.5hp (160kW) at 14,500rpm and 113Nm at 13,500 rpm as torque.

As per the data announced, it has got 3hp more than V4 and 0.5hp more than RSV411000 15.5 hp more than GSXR1000R, 10.5 hp more than BMW S1000RR, 13.5 hp more than Kawasaki ZX-10RR, 17.5 hp more compared to R1 and the vital thing it is faster than its older CBR1000RR by 25.5hp.

However, the only competitor who is still ahead is V4 R, which has 221hp.
