Harley-Davidson® Nightster™

You can’t talk about the Harley-Davidson® Nightster™ Motorcycle without talking about tradition. When Harley set out to create a new Sportster™ Motorcycle. They wanted to look back and learn from their past. Not just in design and engineering but also in attitude and style. Because the best parts of history are those you cannot see.

From the bold curves of its fuel tank to the rumbling sound that’s perfect for today’s roads, this Sportster™ motorcycle is the next chapter in Harley’s DNA.

If you’re a Harley loyalist, you probably already know that the Milwaukee biggie will be celebrating its 120th anniversary in the US in 2023. However, Harley-Davidson did release a new model before the occasion.

The Nightster arrived on the April 12th in America and came powered by something to which Harley zealots are long accustomed:

Harley-Davidson decided to develop a particular motorcycle for the young, urban middle-class. The Harley-Davidson engineers want to create a trendsetting bike in urban areas.

Engine

The engine of the Nightster is based on the 1200 cc Sportster 975cc, but Harley has completely revised: smaller cubic capacity, 66mm longer stroke and 97mm bigger bore. Which makes 90 hp at 7,500 rpm and 95 Nm at 5,000 rpm.

In addition, there are numerous design elements from the Harley. That give the bike an entirely different and unique look:

  • Black fenders with brackets
  • Robust fork clamp for off-road use
  • All black seven-spoke wheels with thick spokes

Frame

The Nightster is a unique bike in the Harley-Davidson range because the machine is built around a Sportster chassis. With the standard Street Bob and Street Glide. The engine gets mounted with the transmission in a Softail frame and fork-mounted fairing. However, on the Nightster, they use a simple tubular steel frame with a tubular steel swingarm. As you would expect on some of their other bikes – to mount the engine and transmission.

An important point worth noting when shopping for your next motorcycle from Harley-Davidson on finance – is through one of our many dealerships. Is that it isn’t just the paint job that makes this bike stand out from others in its range but also its rear stereo shock absorbers which make for a very different riding experience.

Tires

It shouldn’t surprise anyone that it takes time to create the gorgeous paint jobs you’ll find on the Nightster. The main difference between the Sportster S and Nightster is the choice of wheels and tires. The Nightster gets a 100/90-19 tire in the front and a 150/80 B 16 in the rear. At the same time, the Sporster S gets a 180 in 16 inches in the back and a wide 160 in 17 inches in the front.

Price

Harley-Davidson is now all set to bring its much-awaited new motorcycle – the Nightster – to India, which is expected to arrive in the country this month. It should be officially launched in the next two weeks with a price tag close to Rs 14 lakh-14.5 lakh (ex-showroom). Now, this does mean it will also compete against the likes of the Moto Guzzi V85 TT – also a retro-styled bike.

With three shades of Vivid Black, Gunship Gray and Redline red. It will be interesting to see how many shades Harley plans to bring to India.
