However, the Scram 411’s weight reduction may be due to using lighter materials in its construction, such as aluminium or composites. The Scram 411 also has a smaller fuel tank than the Himalayan, which could contribute to the weight difference.

As for the new liquid-cooled 450cc engine Royal Enfield is reportedly developing, the weight of the Himalayan and Scram models could increase if this engine is used. However, Royal Enfield could find ways to keep the weight down by using lighter materials or optimizing the bike’s design.

New frame

Regarding the new frame of the Himalayan/Scram, with official confirmation from Royal Enfield, it’s easier to say for sure. Spy shots can be misleading, and it’s always best to wait for official announcements before making any assumptions about a bike’s design. That said, if the rear part of the frame is pointing up, it could affect the seating comfort of the pillion, as you mentioned.

However, this would depend on the specifics of the frame design and how it affects the bike’s overall ergonomics.

Differences and advantages

The differences and advantages of the Scram and Himalayan motorcycles for touring are here. The Scram may be better suited for single-person touring with its flickability, while the Himalayan may have better seating and a more touring-friendly windscreen for longer rides.

As for the two-up touring and the need for additional luggage and a rear rack goes. In this case, the Himalayan may be more practical with its ability to handle more weight and a larger luggage capacity.

The reinforced subframe on the Himalayan is also an essential improvement over previous models experienced cracking issues. It remains to be seen if the new spy shots indicate any further changes to the frame.

Regarding the weight difference between the two bikes, the Scrambler has a slight weight advantage over the Himalayan, but not by much. And the Himalayan’s weight gain is due to the subframe reinforcement, which was used to crack in earlier models.
