Marzocchi enjoyed a historic presence at EICMA this year. The Bologna-based company continues to raise the bar for itself and the rest of the industry.
There are plenty of performance-oriented upgrades available for motorcycles. But Marzocchi is taking things to new heights with a semi-active suspension.
At the EICMA show 2021 in Milan, Italy. The suspension manufacturer took the wraps off its semi-active suspension system.
However, in 2022 Marzocchi plans to bring something interesting with the first fully-active suspension for motorcycles.
CEO Talks
The Marzocchi CEO has revealed plans to introduce an active suspension system.Which could be seen on bikes soon.
Active suspension on motorcycles is still a very young technology and has been limited to racing motorcycles.
Most suspensions use dampening devices to keep the tires in contact with the ground even during significant external force inputs from road surfaces or impacts from other vehicles.
Fully-active suspension is a hot topic. And there are plenty of systems available for automobiles can supply consumers with adaptive chassis responses vary depending on the vehicle’s speed, acceleration. And road surface.
Such complex control over the dampers has remained out of reach for motorcycle manufacturers due to their complexity (and cost), but as we approach 2022.
Companies like Marzocchi are planning to change by introducing a fully-active suspension system will improve both bike handling and overall rider comfort.
Talking to Motociclismo, Marzocchi CEO Florenzo Vanzetto said, “We in the project have called it predictive fork. It already exists in the car world. We want to have a predictive fork can read and anticipate road programs.
He further said, “Attention, the predictive fork is a bet. Not everyone believes it. Not everyone even believes in semi-active. But we are convinced and we are moving towards this sector.”
“Obviously, today we are talking about the highest range: the prospect is. But the costs do not yet allow us to approach lower segments,” admitted Vanzetto. “It’s a bit like in the world of cars, you only find it on very few cars and there will be an extension tomorrow.”
Lastly, he said, “Let’s say at the beginning of the year. We will present our active suspension, is the predictive fork we talked about”.
