Yamaha’s recent R1M face mask is slathered with R1M graphics. You can buy it through Yamaha’s online store here. The previous needle-felted item bears the same price tag.
The product page contains instructions on how to use it as a proper face mask. The “neck muffler” effect is achieved by using the mask backwards, wrapping it around your neck like a scarf.
It is a small sample of the enormous variety of Yamaha stuff you can make. But it’s a pretty cool one!
If you want to knit up a purse or a scarf, or if you’re going to sew a bike helmet, or if you’d love to stroke some wool until your fingers prickle and your eyes glaze over.
Then please please check out any of those items’ pages on the Yamaha site, where you can find patterns for things that are not motorcycles.
Now Spring is here, the R1M face mask looks cool, and I am again without an R1M face mask to keep my face warm.
But you know what’s almost as good as a Yamaha R1M face mask? A Yamaha R1 muffler face mask. It’s the same concept. However, a bit hard to attain.
How to make it?
But don’t let this muffler’s winsome look fool you – there is a serious purpose behind this creation. Yamaha decided to create the R1M Muffler to help riders stay warm as temperatures drop later in the year.
In 2021, climate change is a genuine issue, and many of us now have to deal with global warming-related problems with cold weather.
According to Yamaha’s press release, cold weather can now be a “life-threatening” problem for some people.
The Yamaha R1M muffler is much easier to make than the full-face face mask as it doesn’t require as many colourways as its face mask cousin.
It also doesn’t use as much R1M fibre as any of the other patterns. After making one or two, you’ll be pretty much set to tackle the rest.
However, you need to buy them if you don’t have the pins, crochet hooks, or knitting needles.
I think this Yamaha muffler scarf is a great project, and I’m impressed with how it turned out.
It appears to be perfect for wearing over a jacket. Although the pattern calls for specific materials, you can easily find something else that works to make your muffler scarf.
And if the muffler scarf isn’t your style, then you could quickly adapt the pattern into a full motorcycle helmet or face mask.
And the video is here to guide you.
