It is no secret that KTM has been planning an upgrade to the RC 200 for quite some time now.
We have already seen spy shots of multiple prototypes testing on roads, so it is refreshing to see the bike launch finally.
It’s only been a year since the previous model was introduced in India, but the Austrian manufacturer has extensively upgraded the new motorcycle.
New frame saves 1.5 kgs over the earlier model
If you’re thinking of buying the RC 200, this is something you should check out. The new motorcycle gets a host of updates for cosmetic enhancements and functional changes on the commuter bike.
Features
These include body panels, a new headlamp with LED DRLs, projector headlamps, handguards, cast alloy wheels, new graphics and badges.
The LCD speedometer arrives from the new 250 Duke. With a 13.7-litre unit, the fuel tank now has a larger capacity than the outgoing bike’s 9.5-litre fuel tank.
Large fuel tanks meant more rides
The new 2022 RC 200 arrives with MotoGP inspired design having a split-type trellis with several changes compared to the single trellis of the outgoing model. The sub-frame of the new model gets bolted onto the trellis frame of the RC 200.
It’s not often that manufacturers upgrade their middleweight naked bikes, but one company that likes to keep its fans on the edge of their seats is KTM.
Further, the entry-level KTM RC 200 gets updated with fully adjustable handlebar risers, a lighter exhaust system, and a new WP fork with newly developed damping components to give it a more comprehensive range of adjustments.
Though the basic setup of the engine remains, which is 25.4bhp, 200cc, the liquid-cooled engine of the KTM RC 200 has remained majorly unchanged.
200cc powerplant
However, there are new refinements to ensure that this baby has more punch.
The motorcycle’s cooling system is being overhauled with new radiator arrangements placed tall and curved for better airflow. Plus it gets the four valves, double overhead cams and ultra hard carbon coated cal levers mean more power.
Two paint schemes
At the same time, extensive changes have been made to the motorcycle’s bodywork to ensure that KTM RC 200 is more comfortable and spacious than its predecessor.
All these make the motorcycle look more premium than before. As for the price remains identical to its earlier model at Rs 2.09 lakh (ex-showroom). And will go head-on against the Yamaha YZF R15 V4.
Weather wet resistant and more ergonomic pillion seat
However, this is an introductory price and will rise in future. And you will be happy to know the bookings for the new 2022 KTM RC 200 has already begun.
