Cover-Triumph-Trident

In October 2020, Triumph unveiled it’s much sought after midsize roadster, Trident 660, which we have been taking a glimpse in the teasers.

Compared with the old Trident precisely after 45 years, Triumph boss John Bloor brings the new Trident. With 660 cc engine and the inline-three engine shared from 2020 Street Triple S.

The Triumph Trident 2021, when compared with old, the news doesn’t lose much DNA as we still see those lines are present in the new Trident. Plus, the old and new get three cylinders each.

The design is the brainchild of Rodolfo Frascoli, an eminent and gifted Italian designer who has several designs in his name.

The few being Triumph Triumph Speed Triple, Tiger 1050, Moto Morini Corsaro, Granpasso, Scrambler, Suzuki Katana, Triumph Tramontana and VR46.

As we go further, we focus on the design and its components.

Engine

The 660c, Liquid-cooled, 12 valve, DOHC, inline 3-cylinder comes from the Street Triple 675. We understand the motor isn’t new; however, Triumph updated around 67 components.

Plus, the Trident 660 gets a new exhaust altogether, wherein the exhaust gets narrower at the bottom.

Further, it has a committed electronic system.The 660cc motor is capable of building 81 PS / 80 bhp (60 kW) @ 10,250 rpm and 64 Nm @ 6,250 rpm.

The bore stroke is 74.0 mm * 51.1 mm with 11.1:1 as compression. The 6-speed transmission gets support from the slipper clutch, and an up/down quickshifter, too, is available.

The excellent part of the new Trident 660 has 10,000 miles (16093.44 km) service interval. We believe it is one of the most significant advantages, and compared to its rival, it is high.

Design

Rodolfo Frascoli made sure the roadster comes with a compact design and aligns with the old Trident. The chassis comes built upon an all-new Tubular steel perimeter frame.

Chassis also gets support from the twin-sided, fabricated steel swingarm.

The suspension gets the Showa units with  41mm upside-down separate on the front and mono-shock RSU, with preload adjustment at the rear.

Combined with ABS, the braking duties are performed by Nissin two-piston sliding callipers, twin 310mm floating disc on the front, and the opposite end gets Nissin single-piston sliding calliper, single 255mm disc.

The 17-inch wheels get the Michelin Road 5 tires with size 120/70 at the front and 180/55R17 at the rear when it comes to wheels. With a 14l fuel tank, the Trident 660 has 189 (wet weight) kg.
