Is Kawasaki building a new platform with the ZX-696 RR Ninja?

Do we see a new ZX 696 RR Ninja from Kawasaki is today’s main question?

2021 Kawasaki ZX-10RR

In November 2020, Kawasaki released the new ZX-10RR with much fanfare.

The machine has 998 cc, liquid-cool, 16 valve, 4-stroke in-line four calibrates to make 149.3 kW {203 hp}/ 13,200 rpm. And maximum power with ram air 156.8 kW {213 PS} / 13,200 rpm and 114.9 Nm {11.7 kgf.m} / 11,400 rpm.

The motor comes with finger followers. Essentially it means the valves are open longer and more significant duration to generate more power. 

The new design looks sleeker and comes integrated with more punch and tech.


2021 Kawasaki ZX-6R KRT

The same goes for the new ZX6R. However, the new 2021 follows the design of its earlier 2020 iteration.Which is a bit bulky. The 2021 ZX-6R weighs 425.6 lb (193 kgs).

The 636cc, 4-stroke, in-Line Four, DOHC, 16-valve, liquid-cooled calibrates to 94.9 kW (127.3 hp) @ 13,500 RPM and 70.6 Nm (52.1 lb-ft) @ 11,500 RPM.

The critical thought Kawasaki doesnt have a machine that produces the power. Which is between 127.3 hp that 2021 Kawasaki ZX-6R makes and 203 hp that 2021 Kawasaki ZX-10RR makes.


Can Kawasaki fill this gap with the ZX-696 RR Ninja? Essentially it will be a new lightweight platform with more punch.

And this is what Bezzi thinks, and here is his proposal on the new platform.It will also open lot of opportunities for Kawasaki.
