More and more Europe-based motorcycle events have been cancelled since the COVID attacks at the end of November 2021. The recent increase in COVID infections and hospitalizations for motorcyclists across the EU, UK, and other parts of the world led many organizers to postpone several events until 2023.
While the hope among many is that the devastating effects of the COVID-19 Virus will dissipate by 2022, this outbreak has already affected so many lives that event organizers logically want to wait and see how things play out. Here’s a recap of notable upcoming events cancelled for 2022.
Cancelled or Postponed events
Before the new year arrived, we saw IMOT, Germany’s Elephant Rally (or Elefantentreffen), Augustusburg Winter Meeting, and Supercross Dortmund events getting cancelled.
- COVID can confirm the cancellation of Motorbike World Lake Constance (Motorradwelt Bodensee). Motorbike World Lake Constance was initially scheduled in Germany from January 29 through 31, 2022. It has now rescheduled for January 27 through 29, 2023.
- Organizers of the Motorbike Fair Leipzig have confirmed that they are also cancelling their event for 2022. Motorbike Fair Leipzig (Motorrad Messe Leipzig) will be held next year again in February 2023. However, the dates are not confirmed.
- Again speaking of potential cancellation dates, Motorbikes Dortmund is no longer listed from March 3 through 6, 2022. The motorbike trade show was at Messe Dortmund or Dortmund expo centre. Visitors would have had space for over 100 plus exhibitors, and the public would have been allowed to enter day 3 of the event. Organizers now have provided new dates from March 2 through 5,2023.
- The final schedule of Intermot, from October 4 through 9,2022 in Cologne and will include a host of European motorcycling events, was released earlier this month. There are a couple of cancellation announcements on the schedule so far, with still more to come. However Intermot as of now is not cancelled.
